Nude photography is controversial. It’s not an easy step, and I highly recommending doing plenty of research on your photographer before hiring them for fine art nude portraits.
I would argue it is a true art form and very different from the stuff you see in “adult films.” It’s pure bliss to accept your body, not just on a physical level, but also a very emotional level. Nude photography is an art, and is created between you and your photographer. I CANNOT emphasize enough that you should research your photographer thoroughly that they have great, raving reviews, beautiful work that fits the style your working on, and ultimately wants you to love your portraits of yourself.
Here are the top three reasons why people do nude photography, and if you think you may be interested in dipping your toes into this portrait, make sure to check book a consultation with Kate Styles HERE. She can walk you through her important steps process to ensure you are happy, and are able to enjoy your session.
Create and Convey Deep Emotion
Its about loving your body, intimately. Its about emotion, and a deep connection with yourself. When your clothes are finally off, there is a sense of vulnerability that creates incredible soul searching for you. We have hit a new level of love for you thats you haven’t experienced until you’ve booked a session.
SETTING A HIGHER SOCIAL STANDARD
Throwing away the idea of modesty, and going against the grain. We are often told what we look like when were naked, but its usually never that we are a work of art. At KSP, I specialize in creating those beautiful, light painting portraits and have every intention of making youo look like a beautiful wall painting. Your body is art, its gorgeous, every curve, scar, stretch mark, its beautifully you. I will artfully pose, and direct as we kick social media in the booty! We will show off what the gorgeous body really looks like, and you can post away, or keep them for yourself.
RECLAIM THE FEMALE BODY
Our bodies are TEMPLES LADIES! They are beautiful, sculpted, and curvy and deserve their own gorgeous attention. Dont think for one second your body isnt a gorgeous goddess. Have you ever seen the greek sculptures with the sheet draping? Have you ever noticed they are AVERAGE size women, if not, mid to plus size?! ALL the extra curves, beautiful posing…and thats exactly what we focus on!
What really happens at a boudoir shoot? At Kate Styles Photography, I can promise you — a luxury, fine art, all soul searching, mind changing, and beautiful experience.
We will chat before your session, to ensure myself and my team are on the same page for your session. We want to be sure we are photographing you in the best way. If you want to be a sweet French lady, painted with light, or a beautiful fine art nude portrait. We will chat to be sure we know exactly what you are looking for, and we can have our plan ready for the day.
One thing I will tell you is that I keep the studio at a comfortable temperature so you feel comfortable too.
Secondly, we keep wine and snacks because we encourage the calming of our nerves at 10am!
When you arrive at the studio we will have hair and make up team is ready for you, as well as some clothing pulled from our client wardrobe closet so you have options for your session. You DO NOT need to bring any make up with you, as our team will have everything for you. You simply come with a clean and dry face and we will take care of everything else! Our make up team is incredible with matching tones, bringing out the best colors in your eyes, lips, cheeks and skin.
After our hair and makeup team completes your transformation, we will move into looking over your wardrobe, and which outfits would look best with your body shape. What colors would look on your skin tone. We want to tailor you to ensure you look the best you ever have, and show off your curves in the best light. You can be as covered or as naked as you would like during your session. You can grab out of our client wardrobe, full of fabric, sheets, body suits, belts, even shoes! Or feel free to rock out a fine art nude, jeans and no top, or oversized sweater. All of these are great ideas on outfits! Even a pair of high waisted spanks look amazing, and some of my favorites to show off curves.
During your session we will have different backdrops, lighting, and I will guide you through all of your poses, while our hype team ensures you are feeling radiant, confident, and each curl is in place during your session. My assistant and I will constantly be fixing your hair, your posing, and making sure your are perfectly in place for your shoot to go beautifully.
My goal is to make you feel completely at ease during your session. I will take care of everything from start to finish, and the more open and honest you are with me, the better we make your session. I promise, I totally expect you to be nervous, but believe me when I say we got this! I would be nervous if you weren’t nervous!
Boudoir photo shoots are truly what fuel my soul, because not only are we enhancing your appearance on the outside, but we are also focusing on the inside. I will ask you what you love most about yourself…what do you see yourself doing with your life. What are your goals, dreams, and visions. I want to get to know the woman underneath all of this, because I know we are creating magazine worthy portraits, we are celebrating the worthy woman you are. Some boudoir photographers will focus on the sexual aspect of your shoot, but in my studio,
And here is perhaps where the biggest YES THANK YOU, I will literally show you your pose by physically getting into it, I got you babe. Like: lean on your arm here, move up your legs here, arch your back here, tilt your head this way, look over that way. I promise I am the queen of posing, and do not expect you to pose yourself. This takes so much of the uncertainty out of it.
This whole thing is so fun, like stupiiddddd fun girl. You will walk out with so much joy and happines. A new love for your body thanks to this boudoir photo shoot.
You got this dahling 🙂
What makes any woman WANT to channel their inner self to empower themselves through a boudoir photoshoot?
SO MANY FREAKINNGGG REASONS DAHLING!
I can tell you, for me personally…its a celebration you. A milestone. If I just had a baby, celebrating that I had this new body — which is the hardest I feel to celebrate. Your body can feel foreign. A lot of extra curvy body to take on. Another reason, I was on a nutrition kick and hit a goal. If I was pregnant and celebrating that my body was growing another incredible soul that would change the world….pregnancy was probably my ultimate reason to want to have a fine art nude maternity session.
At the studio, at Kate Styles Photography, we celebrate the body. We celebrate YOU, and your goals.
What have you been working on recently? You deserve to have those memories captured for you babe. You deserve to have some time taken out for you. Stop working so hard to please everyone else. I bet if your friends needed something…you would drop things on a dime to go do something for them. Why are you so hesitant to do it for yourself?
I dont have time = I am not worth taking time out for myself
I dont have the money = I am not worthy of spending money on myself
i dont have XYZ = I am not worth it.
I can promise you, a boudoir session makes you walk away feeling like queen of the world. We offer professional hair and make up with our boudoir sessions. A client wardrobe filled with lace robes, bodysuits, fishnets, thigh highs, boots, thongs, bras, mesh dresses…or my personal favorite – fine art nudes!
Your body is a canvas. Think about your skin…its a map of your entire life. The scars, the curves, the less or more curves than you have had in the past. The smile lines, giggles, the curls, eye lashes…all of it. Your beautiful body, its a work of art. Lets paint it with light friend.

Its me, Kate — owner and photographer within this beautiful studio of Kate Styles photography in richmond, virginia. I thrive off creating beautiful nude images with beautiful people. WHY? Because when im 80, I want to look back on these images and think YES THATS ME.
I want to remember my body how it is now, the curves, the flaunts, the hips, my skin actually holding elasticity. (WOO!)
Photographing boudoir, nude shoots — its like painting light on a body. you cannot have light without shadows. I cannot wait to show you just a few of my favorite poses, examples below.
Nude boudoir is more than just images, its a way of appreciating our curves. A lot of my clients photograph these, print them, and display them in their home. It’s painting light, its art, and its beautiful.
There are so many ways to light a body with curves and shapes! Every woman deserves to love her body where it is. Boudoir is my absolute favorite, because in my studio we celebrate WHO you are — your shape, your accomplishments, goals, and endeavors!
If you’re ready to take the plunge, feel free to contact me to set up a consultation to chat more about your beautiful fine art nude session. Your luxury experience is waiting here at the photography studio!
Hey dahling! I know you’re trying to figure out what poses are going to be the most flattering, and I want to share with you some of the best posing tips on all body shapes! We want to show off the best parts of us, and own our beautiful curves.
I want you to know that boudoir can feel scary, fine art nude boudoir can be even more terrifying! However, when done properly, it can be the most exhilarating moment of your life, and you can leave your session feeling beautiful, over the top gorgeous. Pampered from head to toe, dripping gold from your finger tips. (I highly suggest researching all the photographers in your area and finding one where you LOVE their work, love their message, and ultimately, make sure they are going to make you feel like you are their number one priority!
You heard me. The best outfit is NO out fit. Truly, you have beautiful skin — you can totally show it off!
Fine art nudes are my FAVORITE to rock out. It’s not for everyone, but believe me, its one of my favorites
Another absolute favorite in our studio! We love showing off the curves, with a Calvin Klein kind of twist. We love our 90s jeans look, but in a beautiful bold way.
Everyone loves a beautiful body suit. Lace, fishnet, mesh. However you’d like it. There are SO many styles, so I suggest finding one that you love!
Another amazing favorite in my studio, the white button down collar shirt. These flatter any body shape or size. I even keep extra large mens white button down in our client wardrobe at the studio.
Nothing wrong with rocking out the gorgeous Calvin Klein 90’s look with a little extra skin. We always encourage our clients to bring a pair of jeans to their session because we can do topless, or pair it with a beautiful bra – however they feel most comfortable!
One of our TOP favorites in our studio. We keep a stack of sheets, ready to roll because they are loved so much. These fit all body shapes. Can be draped in thousands on different ways to either show or hide skin we love, or dont love as much! I could spend an entire session with a white sheet — they are just incredible!
We encourage our clients to bring their favorite bra and panty set. This way you have something you love. I love lace personally! We love how many different styles, and colors you can get from this! Your boudoir session should show off who you are, all the way down to the way your underwear lays. High waisted, thong, cheeky…so many ways!
We LOVE our mesh robes, they look amazing in so many ways. They cover, but also show enough that we can see your body line and its worth it all! I love to use this, specifically back lit — because I love to show off the curves!
Another favorite, the LACE robe. long short, wide sleeves, tight sleeves, this baby can be anything! It looks beautiful on anyone. I love to use these to add more of an elegance feel to our boudoir sessions.
I cannot tell you how BEAUTIFUL it is to have your curves photographed the way they are! Its just beautiful in every single way. Your body, curves, should be painted with beautiful light
